Dinosaurs according to Daniel

“Dinosaurs are a bit scary,” Daniel told me one day as we were driving down the road.  He was looking at his Peppa Pig magazine.

“You don’t have to worry about dinosaurs buddy, they’re extinct.  There are no dinosaurs left, they all died.”  I told him.

“No they didn’t.” He told me using his you’re-a-moron tone of voice.

“Yes they did, they are all gone.”

“Well they say RARRRRRRRRRRR! So there are dinosaurs.”

Dinosaurs

“Where are all the dinosaurs?” Hannah asked as she was looking through her new dinosaur puzzle book.

“They are all extinct.”  Aaron told her.

“What’s extinct?”

“There are none left, they all died a long time ago.”

“I know why all the dinosaurs are extinct,” Hannah said with certainty a little while later, “Someone put too much water in their tea.”

Dinosaurs

I was busy getting breakfast ready when I heard the following conversation:

Aaron: “ROAR! I’m a dinosaur.” He pretends to be animals to make the kids giggle all the time. Usually they make silly noises and run away, straight to me. If they are touching me, I’m bar. They can’t be tickled by the dinosaur/lion/tickle monster when they are touching me (usually by attaching themselves to my leg or sitting in my lap). What? that’s not weird at all.

Hannah: “No Daddy, I’m scared of dinosaurs!”

Aaron: “You don’t need to be scared of dinosaurs, they are extinct. There are no living dinosaurs anymore, only dinosaur bones.”

Hannah (puzzling over this for a moment): “Why do they stink, Daddy?”
