January 19, 2011. The day started out like any other. I took Hannah and Grandma out shopping. Grandma read Hannah a story in the car. I thought the story was about muumuu’s when really Grandma was saying moo-moo instead of cow. I wrote a post about it. Nothing out of the ordinary.
But then something weird happened. Every single day since I wrote that post, I have been getting at least 10 views a day on my blog from people typing ‘muumuu’ or ‘muumuu dress’ or something of the like into search engines.
The first time I saw that so many people were finding my blog from searching muumuu’s, I thought it was rather hilarious.
“Aaron, check this out!” I said as I laughed. “Who searches muumuu’s?”
But then I started wondering…. Seriously, who searches for muumuu’s and why are they searching? This isn’t just one person, this is multiple people, every single day since that day in January.
I tried googling muumuu’s myself, just to see how high up in the search my blog came in. I got bored after checking 3 pages of the search. So, multiple people are googling (or yahooing, or whatever they use) muumuu’s and somehow finding my blog even though it’s not even on the first 3 pages? What? So what is it with muumuu’s? I seriously don’t know. I can’t figure it out. Is it some sort of strange fetish or something? Why are so many people searching for muumuu’s? Then one day came my personal favourite muumuu search. Yeah, someone actually typed this into their search engine:
Now I really think it’s some sort of fetish or something. People are so weird…. I checked the blog stats today. Yeah, still getting hits from muumuu searches. I’m sure this post will get even more muumuu searches, but at least I can laugh about what people type into search engines. Plus, they will be thoroughly disappointed when they are looking for photos of large women wearing muumuu’s and instead get this post, which is pretty much me making fun of them. HAHAHAHA!
But maybe I’m completely wrong, maybe people are searching for muumuu’s for entirely different reasons. If you got this blog entry from searching for muumuu’s, please, indulge me: why are you searching for muumuu’s?

People search weird things, I got a whole bunch of search engine hits for awhile when I wrote one that mentioned Alaskan tennis shoes.
I found out that “bad mommy cut” was the phrase that led most people to my blog. haha!

some people do infact like muumuus not only to wear but also to look at. i guess you have to think about this, no matter how weird you think it is there is a whole sub culture that thinks it’s normal

I found your site through searching Muumuu! And I will tell you why.
Alot of people who have a love for vintage also like muumuu’s I found 2 yesterday and purchased them for pennies and was planning on doing a silly little blog post on them.
You were on the first page in google on my search.
p.s. I am sure there is also weird muumuu fetish people… but I can assure you probably 85% of the people coming to your page from the muumuu search just have a quirky love for muumuu’s.
The other’s….. well I guess if we didn’t have strange people on earth we would have nothing to talk about.

LOL! I found your page searching for muumuus, too! SO FUNNY! It’s actually the first one that came up on my search engine (google). I’m recently pregnant and found some vintage muumuus today at the goodwill and I’m totally planning on rocking them with stacked bangles and chunky wedge shoes! I googled it to get other ideas for wearing them since I’ve seen them on several fashion blogs lately. I actually kind of love them, lol! 🙂
Hmmm… I wonder if there is a new breed of fashionable muumuus out there? I’ve only ever seen the grandma/fat Homer Simpson kind.

i got here by searching for muu muus. i grew up with my mom wearing muu muus and i think they’re beautiful. i think they make beautiful house dresses. i googled it because i was trying to buy one online. i think it’s weird that people think muu muus are some strange thing or some sort of gag. it’s just a house dress people. i think a lot of times muu muus get this stereotype that only large old women wear them. actually it is a traditional house for some cultures. i think they are a better alternative to large t-shirts and pajama pants.
Fair enough. Thanks for responding 🙂 I think people just associate them with large women because smaller women don’t actually wear them outside of the house. Not that I’ve seen anyway. Plus the whole fat Homer Simpson wearing one thing didn’t really help…. I actually have no idea what a muumuu would look like on a smaller woman. Maybe I’ll have to google it 🙂
